The Screenshot Passed. The Screen Did Not.

Inspect layout in the states your customers actually reach.

The initial screen looks polished. Then the user enters a long name, opens an error message, and rotates the phone.

Now the button is off-screen and the explanation covers the input.

/carbon-ui investigates presentation, controls, hierarchy, consistency, and responsive states. It gives the agent a reason to look beyond the one screenshot the feature was designed around.

Change the content and the state

Try empty data, dense data, a loading state, an error, and a narrow viewport. Inspect the selected state, disabled state, and what happens when text wraps. The goal is not to invent a new design preference; it is to find where the current design stops communicating or working.

The agent can use screenshots, rendered geometry, source, and interactions when those channels are available. A static image supports visual observations. It does not establish whether a clipped control can be reached by keyboard or whether it performs its action.

Make the report easy to act on

/carbon-ui inspect the local account page at phone and desktop widths; test long content, validation errors, and loading states

A useful finding shows the affected element, the conditions, the visual evidence, and the user consequence. “Looks strange” is less actionable than “the error text covers the only recovery action at this width.”

AI can help notice inconsistencies while the implementation is still in context. The important step is tying the observation to a reproducible state.

Good UI testing is not a beauty contest. It is checking whether the interface continues to make sense when the easy screenshot stops being the whole story.
