Testers.AI Exploratory Testing Agents — Chrome Extension
1. What This Extension Does
Testers.AI Exploratory Testing Agents is a browser extension that uses AI to perform automated exploratory testing on web pages you choose to test. It analyzes the visible content and structure of web pages to discover bugs, usability issues, and edge cases.
2. Data We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:
- Page content you choose to test: When you click "Run" or start an exploratory test, the extension reads the DOM content and visible text of the active tab. This data is sent to our AI proxy server or directly to a third-party AI provider (depending on your settings) to generate test results.
- Email address (optional): If you enter an email address in Settings, it is stored locally and sent as a header to our proxy server for rate limiting, subscription verification, and unlock code validation.
- Unlock code (optional): If you enter an unlock code, it is stored locally and sent as a header to our proxy server to verify your subscription tier.
- Extension settings: Your preferences (provider, API keys, configuration) are stored locally in your browser via
chrome.storage.local.
3. Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect browsing history.
- We do not collect data from pages you do not explicitly test.
- We do not collect personal files, passwords, form data, cookies, or authentication tokens from the pages you test.
- We do not run background tracking, analytics pixels, or fingerprinting.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
4. How Data Is Processed
- Testers.AI Proxy (default provider): Page content is sent to our cloud proxy server (
us-central1-taiser-476406.cloudfunctions.net) hosted on Google Cloud. The proxy forwards your request to Google Gemini for AI analysis. We do not permanently store the page content sent through the proxy — it is processed in memory and discarded after the response is returned.
- Third-party AI providers (if you use your own key): If you configure your own API key for Google Gemini, OpenAI, or Anthropic, page content is sent directly to that provider under their respective privacy policies. We do not see or store this data.
5. Data Storage
- Local storage only: Your API keys, email, unlock code, and settings are stored exclusively in your browser's local storage (
chrome.storage.local). They never leave your device except as described in Section 4.
- Server-side: Our proxy server may store your email address and usage counts (number of requests per day) in a Firestore database for rate limiting and subscription management. No page content is stored server-side.
6. Permissions Explained
- activeTab / tabs: Required to read the content of the page you are currently testing when you initiate a test.
- scripting: Required to inject the testing agent scripts into the page under test so they can interact with page elements during exploratory testing.
- storage: Required to save your settings, API keys, and preferences locally.
- sidePanel: Required to display the extension UI in Chrome's side panel.
- host_permissions (<all_urls>): Required because you may want to test any website. The extension only accesses a page when you explicitly start a test on it.
7. Third-Party Services
Depending on your provider configuration, data may be processed by:
